Every budding company reaches a point where they must face social media, choose a direction, and start walking. If you're a business owner or aspiring influencer, gurus are constantly whispering in your ear about how a successful a social media presence can make your business, but that doesn't make it any less daunting. Years ago, we only had to worry about Facebook for business, but now there's Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and (god forbid) TikTok. Each platform favors different styles of content and requires a different strategy to attract your potential customers.

So how do you navigate these ever-changing waters? Some businesses opt to hire a social media strategist like one of our experts here at Write Digital to take the headache off their plate, but not every business has that option. Needs can vary widely as well as funds. Not every small business needs a broad social media strategy with 14 unique pieces of internet content per week. It's all about finding the strategy that suits you.

I'm a social media strategist and I've worked with creators to generate millions of views online. Today, I want to make content a little easier for your business with three content types every business can make.

Using this strategy will help you organize ideas and avoid getting lost brainstorming for new post ideas. So without further ado, let's jump into it!

Ideally, when scheduling social media posts each week, you'll have a healthy balance of these categories for your followers to stay hooked.

1. Trend Jacking

I had to start with this one, didn't I? The effects of TikTok on the social media world are undeniable. TikTok has established ever-cycling, easy trends as a social media content pillar over the past 2 years. And that's good for you because online video trends only make your job easier!

All you have to do is scroll through TikTok or Instagram Reels to find popular audio or video styles of the week and recreate them for your own account.

There's only one problem.

You can't just put in zero effort and directly copy posts from other prominent accounts. It's important that you find trends that can apply to your own niche and put your personal spin on the content to avoid outright stealing, as well as providing new value to viewers. If a viewer sees you doing a trend but they've already seen it a hundred times in their feed and you're not adding any new value, they won't click "like" or "follow." They'll just keep scrolling.

It's also important to keep in mind you can't just copy trends from a month or even two weeks ago. Trends come and go by the week and the faster you are on the trigger, the better your results will be. Try to catch trends within a day or two of their beginning to ride the wave as high as possible.

If done right, this strategy can drive thousands of new viewers to your account for relatively low effort/time investment.

2. Education

Education is the most important pillar of your content when building an account from scratch. Why? Because when you're just starting out, you're nobody. If you're not offering value to potential viewers, they have no reason to check out your page. You can create value in many ways, but one of the most tried-and-true methods is educating your audience on your niche. It helps to establish yourself as an authority in the space and keeps viewers coming back to learn something that can help in their own lives.

Make a list of unique tips, tricks, and little-known facts about your niche and create engaging posts that provide your audience with value, just like this one!

You don't have to create high-value educational content every day. That's why this category has its place among others. Creating 1-2 pieces of educational content per week is more than enough to keep your audience engaged when you're utilizing all three categories in this blog.

3. Comedy

Everyone needs to laugh. More and more, users are retreating to social media to escape the drudgery of everyday life and comedic content dominates platforms like TikTok. So use that to your advantage! Everything doesn't have to be serious and clinical. Creating content that makes your audience smile does a lot to create a relatable persona for your brand. In a world over-saturated with ads and how-to videos, viewers gravitate to things that feel real. They don't want a faceless logo and random facts; they want a person they can recognize and empathize with.

Comedic content doesn't have to be hard. It can be anything from memes, to short skits, or even using funny trending TikTok audio to relate a popular joke back to your niche.

It's important to have balance.

Put It All Together

Using these three categories, varying the styles by the day across your chosen social media platforms, you can provide viewers with several pieces of content per week that scratch every itch.

- Use trend-based content to draw new viewers in.

- Educational content to establish credibility.

- Comedic content to keep them coming back for a good time.

By varying your posts in this way, you can avoid burning out and better manage your time because you have a strategy now. No more waking up wondering what to post!
